As a certified operator of transport packages in Japan, NFT manages and retains records of maintenance performed on transport packagings at nuclear power plants and at Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (JNFL). Inspections are carried out on the first, third, sixth and tenth year in each decade of use. In 2004, in accordance with the completion of large-scale transport packaging maintenance facilities at JNFL, NFT was consigned by JNFL to create a special transport packaging maintenance team dedicated to maintaining transport packaging at the facilities.
