International Activities
To pursue the safer, more secure and more effective transportation of nuclear materials, it is necessary to share the latest technologies and knowledge among countries involved in nuclear material transport. By participating in meetings of experts hosted by such organizations as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), NFT addresses revisions of the international transport regulations and the adoption of national regulations.
NFT serves as a member of the World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI), an NGO that represents the nuclear material transportation industry, and actively cooperates in its initiatives, dispatching a technical adviser to the WNTI London office and participating in international conferences. NFT has information contacts with some overseas companies and holds information exchange meetings regularly to promote safer, more secure and more effective transport operations with those companies.
NFT also proactively participates in international conferences such as the International Symposium on the Packaging and Transportation of Radioactive Materials (PATRAM) to present its R&D activities and exchange information. We are taking the initiative in strengthening international cooperative relationships and gathering information related to advanced technologies in this field.
