Among the family of NFT-type packages to transport spent fuel assemblies from boiling water reactors (BWRs), the NFT-38B is the largest with the capacity to accommodate 38 fuel assemblies. Advanced engineering capabilities and technologies for transport packages are essential to increasing carrying capacity under the limited handling restrictions of power plants, while ensuring safety in emergency situations such as fires and mishandling. All NFT-type packages for BWRs are used for the transport of spent fuel for reprocessing plant and within nuclear power plant facilities.

Able to accommodate 14 spent fuel assemblies, the NFT-14P is the largest capacity transport package for spent fuel from pressurized water reactors (PWRs). As with the NFT-38B, the NFT-14P transport package was developed by NFT and is certified in Japan. The NFT-14P transports spent fuel for reprocessing plant and within nuclear power plant facilities. NFT has already begun to plan next-generation transport packages that meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of electric power companies.
