International Activities
The safe transport of radioactive materials is an important issue shared by all countries and regions. To ensure safe transport, it is necessary to share technologies and knowledge among countries involved in transporting radioactive materials and to identify the unique circumstances of each country.
On behalf of electric power companies, NFT participates in international conferences and expert meetings in order to improve international transport regulations and to comply in a timely fashion with newly incorporated regulations in Japan.
NFT is a member of the World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI), an international NGO that represents the nuclear fuel industry, and has a close relationship with WNTI for international activities. NFT has information exchange contracts with some overseas companies and holds information exchange meetings regularly to make transport operations with these companies safer and more effective.
NFT also proactively participates in international symposiums, such as PATRAM, an international symposium on the packaging and transportation of radioactive materials, to present its R&D activities and exchange useful information. We are taking the initiative on strengthening international cooperative relationships and information gathering related to advanced technologies in this field.
